Hot Rods Drop Another One...

The hot rods hockey club lost a tough one 6-3 to the Iceaholics to continue their slide. This is the third loss in a row for the Rods who have had a tough go as of late... But damn do they look good in those new jerseys.

Rylan Northcott got a goal on his first shift of the game which earned him the Amateur Stuntman of the Game Award. Kevin Csada and Chris Potter also scored for the Hot Rods in a game where they just couldn't seem to get a bounce. The Iceaholics goalie had a hell of a game, stopping pretty much anything the Hot Rods could throw at him

John Barlow played a solid game, but luck was not on his side. The first three goals the Iceaholics scored were the result of bad bounces and unfortunate deflections.

ICE CHIPS....

- The Rods had a lot of good chances but weren't able to convert on most of the them. One guy was given more than a few but couldn't find the back of the net.... You know who you are... Berk...

Hot Rods Drop Their 3rd Straight

The Hot Rods Hockey Club dropped their third straight on Saturday night losing 11-7 to the Crimson Tide. Fortunately for the Rods, the game didn't mean anything as the Tide are moving up to Division 9. And no one was looking at the scoreboard...... They were all in awe of the beautiful new jerseys the Hot Rods were sporting this game.

John Barlow was solid and net, though the score wasn't a very accurate reflection of his play. He made some great saves but the Tide came in hard and fast and were tough to stop. The Hot Rods tried their best to start the comeback in the third period but came up short. Tom Hautzinger had two of the seven goals to earn himself the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award.

ICE CHIPS......
- Because the team looked so good with the jerseys, a few extra pics were taken..... and a video!!!

Hot Rods Drop 2 in a Row for the First Time

Sean Vander Linden had 2 goals in a 8-3 loss to the Bounty Hunters. Other than that, we sucked.

Nobody Likes Losing.....

The Hot Rods Hockey Club lost a tough one to the Bad Pandas at Scott Seaman in Division 10 South action on Thursday night.

Josh Delannoy open the scoring early, with his first goal of the year. Gary Silkstone put the Hot Rods up 2-0 not long after, and the first period closed out at 3-1 with a goal from Tony Schellenberg. And then it was all Bad Pandas after that, scoring six unanswered goals throughout the second and third periods to make the final 7-3.

John Barlow played well in goal as usual but the Hot Rods had a tough time cleaning up rebounds and couldn't seem to get anything going after a well-played first period.

ICE CHIPS...
- The "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award went to Josh Delannoy for finally scoring his first goal of the year...  It only took 11 games to get that monkey off his back.

Barlow Leads Hot Rods to 4-2 Victory!

John Barlow was stellar in goal on Sunday night, leading the Hot Rods in a come-from-behind victory over the Fussy Puckers.

Tony Schellenberg opened the scoring early in the second period to get the hot rods a 1-0 lead. The Fussy Puckers scored a quick one back to tie it and got another one before the end of the second to make the score 2-1.

Barlow seemed to rally the troops with an inspirational 2nd intermission speech, in which he stated, "Just shoot it,  it'll go in" and "We're a third period team".  Whatever it was,  it worked as the Rods got goals from Tom Hautzinger, Tony Schellenberg and Taylor Northcott in the third to make the final 4-2.

Barlow was in the zone and made some outstanding saves throughout the game,  keeping the Rods in it from start to finish. This earned him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award.  It must have been the warm up game he played earlier with a different team... Yes,  he cheated on us with his ex.

ICE CHIPS....
- Tony Schellenberg had 2 goals Sunday night even though he was so tired he could barely skate. Opposing teams are in trouble if he comes to a game well rested!

- The Hot Rods had a short bench,  with only 10 skaters on the roster. As luck would have it,  the Fussy Puckers only dressed 10 skaters as well. I guess Sunday at 11 pm isn't a popular ice time....
Barlow wears the 'stache well!!!!

Back in the Win Column!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club came away with a victory Thursday night beating Nuclear Winter 6 - 3 in Division 10 South action.

The coaching staff made some line changes, placing defenseman Marc Delannoy on a forward line so he could have a better chance at netting his first goal of the season. It didn't take long as Marc scored early in the first. Tony Schellenberg made it 2-0 in the first with a great rebound goal. Nuclear Winter came back and tied the Rods at two goals a piece in the second, but a good shift in the third period netted the Hot Rods two goals to bring the score to 4-2 and they never looked back after that. Defenseman Andrew McAllister potted two goals on the night which earned him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award.

ICE CHIPS...
- McAllister is the first defenseman to earn the coveted ASOTG Award.

- In a post-game interview, Marc Delannoy stated that he hadn't scored a goal in organized hockey since 1987, to which Tom Hautzinger interrupted, "That's longer than I've been alive!!!!"

Tough Loss for the Hot Rods...

The Hot Rods Hockey Club lost a tough one on Friday night, falling 5-3 in their first Div 10 South game against the Duffmen.

The Rods fell behind 4-0 before Taylor Northcott got on the scoresheet. Rylan Northcott made a great defensive play, intercepting a pass to spring himself on a breakaway to pull within two.  Sean Vander Linden scored his first goal ever on a great individual effort, cleaning up his own rebound to make it 4-3 and earning him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award. The Hot Rods were able to tie it up, but the officials made a bullshit call and waved off the goal, claiming Tony Schellenberg interfered with the Duffmen goaltender.

After a few great chances in the dying minutes, goaltender John Barlow skated to the bench to allow the 6th attacker for the Rods. The tactic was unsuccessful and the Duffmen were able to pot an empty-netter to make the final 5-3.

ICE CHIPS.......
- Cam Campbell may have made the play of the game, blatantly taking out their best player, getting a penalty for it and somehow drawing one as well.... Nice work, Cam.

- Josh Delannoy was able to get the monkey off his back and contribute two assists to the cause. No goals yet though.....

The first of many!!!

Back with a Win!!!!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club got back into the win column on Thursday night with an 8-4 victory over the Calgary China Towners. As it was their last game versus a Div 11 South team, the Rods still played well and fought hard, knowing full well the win did not count towards their record in Div 10 South.

The Hot Rods got off to a quick start with a couple of goals early in the first. Ian Silkstone earned himself the Amateur Stuntman of the Game Award with two goals and an assist. He was understandably frustrated after the game, commenting on how he missed the hat trick on a wide open net, hitting the crossbar. Taylor Northcott also scored two, with Henry Leaver, Tony Schellenberg, Tom Hautzinger adding singles for the Hot Rods. Andrew McAllister scored his second goal of the season on a pop fly from the point... you have to be good to be lucky!!!!

John Barlow was solid for the rods making some key saves when his number was called.

ICE CHIPS...
- There was talk of possible attempted murder charges being laid against Andrew McAllister after an on-ice incident where he "accidentally" ran over one of the opposing players. He showed a great deal of  held up a second time when the opportunity arose to do it again to the same guy.
- Josh Delannoy pulled off a 3 minute shift in dying minutes of the third period, desperately trying to tally a point. His efforts came up short, and will still be hounded on the bench and in the dressing room until this fateful day occurs.

Hot Rods Suffer First Loss of the Season

Well.... It had to happen at some point! The Hot Rods fell 5-2 to the Gold Members in Division 11 South action on Thursday evening, resulting in their first loss of the season. Trevor Bueckert and Ian Silkstone were the goal scorers for the Hot Rods on a night where the opposing goalie played "Lights Out".
The Hot Rods got off to their usual slow start, allowing the score to get to 3-0 mid way through the second period. Two quick goals brought the game within reach at 3-2, but the Members scored two more goals late in second to seal the game.

ICE CHIPS...
- Ian Silkstone was robbed of a second goal when the Gold Members goalie made a windmill kick save on what Silkstone thought was in for sure.
- No "Stuntman of the Game" award was handed out Thursday. The explanation given as to why it was not awarded was "everyone skated like Potter, so no one deserved it". A little harsh, I think...
- Noticably absent in the Hot Rods lineup was Chris Potter, as he was out with an undisclosed upper-body injury. It's probably just coincidence that the only loss of the season was the same game Potter was unable to play... Just sayin'....
- The Hot Rods received word on Thursday that they will be moving up to Division 10 South. In a press conference held Thursday, Hot Rods management stated, "We are looking forward to the challenges ahead, we are going to give 110 per cent, and we want to reassure our fans that we are still just out there to have some fun and have some laughs."

Faso Leads Hot Rods to 7th Straight Win

The Hot Rods Hockey Club are feeling good about themselves.
Tyler Faso picked up his first 2 goals of the season on Monday night, opening the scoring on a breakaway in the first and going five-hole on a nice skate-to-stick move for the game winner, as the Hot Rods defeated Team Carlos 4-3. His 2 goal performance earned him the "Stuntman of the Game" Award.
After opening the scoring, the Rods were down 2-1 after the first, but were able to tie it up late in the second period. Both teams scored early in the third period to take it to 3-3. Faso scored the eventual game winner in the middle of the third, but Team Carlos seemed to turn it on after the goal.
Tayler Delannoy played another strong game in net, especially at the end when Carlos was putting on pressure to get the equalizer. During his post-game media session, Tayler commented that he was disappointed he didn't get a chance to score with the opposition's goalie pulled. "I was hoping to score a goal before my brother...."
ICE CHIPS.....
- There were a few nice hits in this "Non-Contact" game. Just remember..... You get in Tony Schellenberg's way, you're going down.
- John Barlow decided some election was more important than this game.... But at least it was worth it. Congratulations to John on a victory in the Foothills Riding, hammering his oppponents by earning 76% of the vote!!!!
Lookin' goooooood!

Giving Thanks for a Big Win!!!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club are giving thanks for another win Sunday night. They came away with a 6-1 victory over a skilled and gritty Eh Team 2. John Barlow stood tall between the pipes, especially after multiple defensive breakdowns from excessive pinching by the D-men.

Leading the way on the scoresheet was Kevin Csada, with a Hat Trick in front of a sell out crowd. Well... It wasn't a sell out and the majority of the 10 fans in attendance were Kevin's family so it is believed he was just showing off. This performance did earn Csada the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award and was humble in his acceptance speech.

ICE CHIPS....
The Hot Rods were robbed of a goal by the on ice officials as the puck was clearly over the line. When requested to go to Toronto for an instant replay review, the referee told Andrew McAllister to "F*ck off".

Hot Rods Enjoy Thursday Nights!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club just keeps rolling.
Tony Schellenberg, Kevin Csada and Nick Giannoulis are really starting to find their groove as their line accounted for five goals when the Hot Rods beat the Slack Shotz 6-1 on Thursday night. Giannoulis had three goals and an assist, Schellenberg had a goal and three assists and Csada rounded it out with a goal and an assist.
Ian Silkstone got the Hot Rods on the board early in the first period with a beautiful tip-in in front of the net. Tayler Delannoy got the start in net and was solid all game keeping the Slack Shotz from making it close.
ICE CHIPS......
Nick Giannoulis has the first ever "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" award for his effort, earning himself the coveted "Stick-On Moutache". The ritual has begun....

Josh Delannoy is still waiting..........

Apologies...

The Hot Rods Hockey Club would like to extend its sincerest apologies for reporting inaccuracies in its latest post. We had been given false information and would like to retract the section of the post stating "Josh Delannoy finally hit the scoresheet on the fourth game of the season, picking up an assist on one of Cam Campbell's goals." According to the official NCHL website, Josh Delannoy did not register any points during the 9-1 victory on Thursday.

Please accept our deepest apologies for this oversight. We will continue to be diligent in keeping all reported information accurate, and not trusting the word of big, fat liars who are just trying to weasel their way on to the score sheet.

***On a side note, the Hot Rods Hockey Club would like to extend congratulations to Gary Silkstone for scoring his first goal in 26 years. That is quite a drought and we hope for his sake it is not ANOTHER 26 years before his next one.***

Hot Rods Win Again!!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club picked up their fourth straight victory on Thursday night with a 9-1 showing against the Inglorious Basterds. The Hot Rods once again got off to slow start going down 1-0 in the first period after a defensive breakdown in their own zone. The Basterds goaltender kept the game close until the flood gates opened in the second period. Players on the Hot Rod's bench estimated shot totals on the Basterds goalie in the 70-80 range, earning him congratulations from many for a game well played during handshakes. He tried to respond but was still breathing way too heavily to answer, largely due to the peppering the Hot Rods had given to him on the night.

Taylor Northcott earned the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" award with a 3 point showing, including 2 goals. John Barlow was rock-solid in net yet again, at one point using just a skate blade to make the save, much to the dismay of the baffled Basterds shooter.

ICE CHIPS........
- Andrew McAllister earned the "Most Likely To Be Reincarnated as a Walrus" award last night with his performance in the game. The ref blew the whistle as he was making futile attempt after futile attempt to not fall down and then get back up. The play was not blown down for any reason in particular, just due to the fact that no one was really playing, they were all just watching the sideshow in amazement.

- Josh Delannoy finally hit the scoresheet on the fourth game of the season, picking up an assist on one of Cam Campbell's goals. Getting that monkey off his back was a relief for him, as well as his teammates since they were getting pretty tired trying to set him up over and over and over and...

Hot Rods Improve to 3-0

The Hot Rods Hockey Club had a bit of a slow start on Thursday night, but was able to come away with a victory. The final score ended up 3-2 over a well-rounded Rhinos III squad.

As always, goalie John Barlow set up a wall and allowed only 2 goals, both of which came after unfortunate bounces.

Cam Campbell had 2 goals on the night, one of which he put top shelf on the power-play. Afterwards, he was told by officials it was too nice of a shot. He claims the puck was on end, but I'm pretty sure he has been practicing that shot in his garage for a while now.

ICE CHIPS......(Lots from last nights game)
- In an unselfish attempt to help Berk get on the scoresheet, Nick rang a pass off the post on an empty net near the end of the game. Unfortunately, Berk was unable to capitalize as he was being checked by a girl.
- Josh has yet to tally a point in the 3 games so far but claims his CORSI rating is through the roof. I think he's just making up words now.....
- After being hacked in the back of the legs away from the play, Marc made a good decision to get into a war of words as opposed to a fight with the guy who was guilty of the incident. When asked in a post-game interview why he didn't drop the gloves, he responded, "I paid seven hundred fucking dollars to play, I'm not getting kicked out for the season!" Well said Sir... well said.

Hot Rods Win Again!!!

The Hot Rods' second game of the season was another fun outing. Kevin Csada had 2 goals and an assist, leading a fired up Hot Rods squad to a 10-3 win over a tough and willing opponent in the Slack Shotz. We had a few new faces on the ice this game and it looks like we are a team ready to take on whoever comes our way, no matter who comes out to play for the Rods.

Looking forward to the upcoming games.

ICE CHIPS.... Every single Hot Rod skater hit the score sheet in this game.... except for one... You know who you are Josh!!!

Hot Rods Open Season with Decisive Win!

Brian Galambos scored a hat trick and John Barlow was rock-solid in net, leading the Hot Rods Hockey Club to a convincing 8-2 win over the Drillers to take their first game of the 2015-16 NCHL season.
All 3 lines were firing and contributed to the score sheet, with the defence doing a good job of pinching when given the opportunity. During an in-game interview, D-man Tyler Faso stated, "I thought we were playing posts....", after hitting the crossbar on 2 separate occasions.
The Hot Rods are currently rocking a 1-0 record so far this season with their next game on Thursday, Sept. 17th at 10:30 p.m. vs. the Slack Shotz at Scott Seaman Arena.

ICE CHIPS......The Hot Rods actually scored all 10 goals of the game with Tom Hautzinger and Reid Tanigami tipping in shots behind their own goaltender.
