Nobody Likes Losing.....

The Hot Rods Hockey Club lost a tough one to the Bad Pandas at Scott Seaman in Division 10 South action on Thursday night.

Josh Delannoy open the scoring early, with his first goal of the year. Gary Silkstone put the Hot Rods up 2-0 not long after, and the first period closed out at 3-1 with a goal from Tony Schellenberg. And then it was all Bad Pandas after that, scoring six unanswered goals throughout the second and third periods to make the final 7-3.

John Barlow played well in goal as usual but the Hot Rods had a tough time cleaning up rebounds and couldn't seem to get anything going after a well-played first period.

ICE CHIPS...
- The "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award went to Josh Delannoy for finally scoring his first goal of the year...  It only took 11 games to get that monkey off his back.

Barlow Leads Hot Rods to 4-2 Victory!

John Barlow was stellar in goal on Sunday night, leading the Hot Rods in a come-from-behind victory over the Fussy Puckers.

Tony Schellenberg opened the scoring early in the second period to get the hot rods a 1-0 lead. The Fussy Puckers scored a quick one back to tie it and got another one before the end of the second to make the score 2-1.

Barlow seemed to rally the troops with an inspirational 2nd intermission speech, in which he stated, "Just shoot it,  it'll go in" and "We're a third period team".  Whatever it was,  it worked as the Rods got goals from Tom Hautzinger, Tony Schellenberg and Taylor Northcott in the third to make the final 4-2.

Barlow was in the zone and made some outstanding saves throughout the game,  keeping the Rods in it from start to finish. This earned him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award.  It must have been the warm up game he played earlier with a different team... Yes,  he cheated on us with his ex.

ICE CHIPS....
- Tony Schellenberg had 2 goals Sunday night even though he was so tired he could barely skate. Opposing teams are in trouble if he comes to a game well rested!

- The Hot Rods had a short bench,  with only 10 skaters on the roster. As luck would have it,  the Fussy Puckers only dressed 10 skaters as well. I guess Sunday at 11 pm isn't a popular ice time....
Barlow wears the 'stache well!!!!

Back in the Win Column!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club came away with a victory Thursday night beating Nuclear Winter 6 - 3 in Division 10 South action.

The coaching staff made some line changes, placing defenseman Marc Delannoy on a forward line so he could have a better chance at netting his first goal of the season. It didn't take long as Marc scored early in the first. Tony Schellenberg made it 2-0 in the first with a great rebound goal. Nuclear Winter came back and tied the Rods at two goals a piece in the second, but a good shift in the third period netted the Hot Rods two goals to bring the score to 4-2 and they never looked back after that. Defenseman Andrew McAllister potted two goals on the night which earned him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award.

ICE CHIPS...
- McAllister is the first defenseman to earn the coveted ASOTG Award.

- In a post-game interview, Marc Delannoy stated that he hadn't scored a goal in organized hockey since 1987, to which Tom Hautzinger interrupted, "That's longer than I've been alive!!!!"

Tough Loss for the Hot Rods...

The Hot Rods Hockey Club lost a tough one on Friday night, falling 5-3 in their first Div 10 South game against the Duffmen.

The Rods fell behind 4-0 before Taylor Northcott got on the scoresheet. Rylan Northcott made a great defensive play, intercepting a pass to spring himself on a breakaway to pull within two.  Sean Vander Linden scored his first goal ever on a great individual effort, cleaning up his own rebound to make it 4-3 and earning him the "Amateur Stuntman of the Game" Award. The Hot Rods were able to tie it up, but the officials made a bullshit call and waved off the goal, claiming Tony Schellenberg interfered with the Duffmen goaltender.

After a few great chances in the dying minutes, goaltender John Barlow skated to the bench to allow the 6th attacker for the Rods. The tactic was unsuccessful and the Duffmen were able to pot an empty-netter to make the final 5-3.

ICE CHIPS.......
- Cam Campbell may have made the play of the game, blatantly taking out their best player, getting a penalty for it and somehow drawing one as well.... Nice work, Cam.

- Josh Delannoy was able to get the monkey off his back and contribute two assists to the cause. No goals yet though.....

The first of many!!!

Back with a Win!!!!

The Hot Rods Hockey Club got back into the win column on Thursday night with an 8-4 victory over the Calgary China Towners. As it was their last game versus a Div 11 South team, the Rods still played well and fought hard, knowing full well the win did not count towards their record in Div 10 South.

The Hot Rods got off to a quick start with a couple of goals early in the first. Ian Silkstone earned himself the Amateur Stuntman of the Game Award with two goals and an assist. He was understandably frustrated after the game, commenting on how he missed the hat trick on a wide open net, hitting the crossbar. Taylor Northcott also scored two, with Henry Leaver, Tony Schellenberg, Tom Hautzinger adding singles for the Hot Rods. Andrew McAllister scored his second goal of the season on a pop fly from the point... you have to be good to be lucky!!!!

John Barlow was solid for the rods making some key saves when his number was called.

ICE CHIPS...
- There was talk of possible attempted murder charges being laid against Andrew McAllister after an on-ice incident where he "accidentally" ran over one of the opposing players. He showed a great deal of  held up a second time when the opportunity arose to do it again to the same guy.
- Josh Delannoy pulled off a 3 minute shift in dying minutes of the third period, desperately trying to tally a point. His efforts came up short, and will still be hounded on the bench and in the dressing room until this fateful day occurs.
